Your child's key carer will be making observations and monitoring their daily progress and once again they will be receiving lots of cuddles and re-assurance as they widen their experiences and take their next steps of development.
This room is for little ones aged approximately 22 months to 2.5 years and, as the name suggests, it is for the children to continue exploring and growing in independence. Within this safe environment, they are nurtured and cared for using the Key Carer system. The children are given opportunities to explore the world around them and develop their social skills and benefit from both indoor and outdoor activities.
Ofsted - "Parents are warmly encouraged to be fully involved in their children's learning."
Many little ones in this group still enjoy a mid-day sleep and our Little Explorers benefit from their own sleep room. This ensures that the children are fully rested and always ready to enjoy the afternoon activities.
We encourage creativity through painting, cooking and dressing up activities, as well as learning new vocabulary and language development in the home corner and story areas. The carer's support children as they become more independent by allowing them the freedom to choose and lead in activities and to stimulate their senses further.
Children enjoy a range of toys and resources which are easily accessible and their learning is encouraged through a wide range of pre-planned activities with the aim of following their lead and staff responding to their developing skills and abilities. Poppies also encourages physical activities both outdoor and indoors via music and movement and action games. The staff will work alongside the parents when the time is right to start toilet training.
Our Little Explorers enjoy frequent outings to feed the ducks, storytime at the library and trips to the local park.
